VitalStim – Handheld device for dysphagia treatment and swallowing rehabilitation
VitalStim – Handheld Device is an advanced system for neuromuscular electrical stimulation (NMES) and sEMG biofeedback Designed for of swallowing function in cases of dysphagia. The device is used under the supervision of a clinician and combines targeted muscle stimulation with biofeedback to support the training of the muscles involved in swallowing.
The system allows therapists to use both preset and customized programs for individualized treatment. Using biofeedback and visual cues, patients can track their treatment progress directly on a computer or tablet screen. Screen Mirroring technology makes it easier to perform targeted swallowing exercises and creates a more interactive treatment experience.
VitalStim combines electrotherapy and sEMG biofeedback to help increase effort and improve coordination during swallowing attempts. The system also allows for a more objective assessment of swallowing function and swallowing patterns.
The device is Designed for with VMS™ and VitalStim. The VMS™ waveform is applied to the facial muscles and can be combined with sEMG biofeedback in the treatment of swallowing muscle dysfunction. VitalStim is Designed for the swallowing muscles on the front of the neck in the treatment of dysphagia of non-mechanical origin.
